200 Series Stainless Steels:CrMn Grades. Nickel prices have been relatively high over the last couple of years. As a result, there has been increased interest in low-nickel or no-nickel grades of stainless steel. One such family of stainless steels is the 200-series and use of these has doubled this decade.
400 Series Stainless Steel. The 400 series group of stainless steels typically have an 11% chromium and 1% manganese increase, above the 300 series group. This stainless steel series tends to be susceptible to rust and corrosion under some conditions although heat-treating will harden them. The 400 series of stainless steels have a higher 400 Series Stainless Steel Sheet - Slice of StainlessFor our 400 series stainless, weve put 410 and 430 grades together. Theyre strong stainless, but not as easily welded as the 300 series.
For our 400 series stainless, weve put 410 and 430 grades together. Theyre strong stainless, but not as easily welded as the 300 series. 430 Stainless Steel SS430Type 430 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy which offers good corrosion resistance and is particularly resistant to nitric acid, making it a very useful material in chemical applications. Good Machinability. The corrosion resistance qualities are good, but they are not as good as the austenitic grades
Jul 01, 2018 · The 400-series ferritic stainless alloys (409, 430, 439 and 444) are used for exhaust systems, mufflers, catalytic converters, water heaters and tanks, furnace shells, heat exchangers, kitchen equipment, and other equipment requiring corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures. They usually contain 10.5- to 20-percent chromium, nickel content below 1 percent, limited carbon content and Alloy 400/400AR - Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy Plate, and Alloy 400 is readily cold worked by virtually all cold fabrication methods. Cold working should be performed on annealed material. The alloy has a somewhat higher work hardening rate than carbon steel, but not as high as 304 stainless steel. Machining. Alloy 400 can be machined at standard rates with conventional machine tools.

Oct 26, 2001 · Stainless steel grade 430 is capable of resisting oxidation up to 870°C (1598°F) in intermittent usage, and up to 815°C (1499°F) in continuous usage. At room temperature, it has the tendency to become brittle, especially when it has been heated for a long time in the 400-600°C (752-1112°F) range. This issue can be overcome with annealing. The 400 series group of stainless steels has an 11 percent chromium and 1-percent manganese increase, above the 300 series group. The 400 series is susceptible to rust and corrosion under some conditions. Heat-treating will harden the 400 series. The 400 series of stainless steels have higher carbon content, giving it a martensitic crystalline Stainless Steel Types & Myths Austral Wright430 Grade 430 is the most common ferritic stainless steel, used for mild indoor environments, dishwasher liners and automotive trim. It contains 17% of chromium, and hence the corrosion resistance is a little less than that of grade 304.
430 is very similar to 439 grade stainless steel with slightly less chromium at 16% minimum content. 430 is more oxidation resistant and corrosion resistant than 409 grade. 430 is a popular non-hardenable grade most commonly used in indoor environments. 430 is readily cold formed by bending, deep drawing and stretch forming. 430 is relatively easy
